Disability Tax Credit Scandle for Canadian Families

On December 31, 2004 the Ministry of Revenue cancelled unclaimed Disability Tax Credits for hundreds and throusands of Canadian families who are in greatest need.  Unclaimed amounts for the years before 1996 add up to $1 billion dollars in unused tax credits!  These were credits that many families of people with disabilities were not informed they were even entitled to.  There was no consultation.  The standing committee on disabilities had no input.  There was no formal notification, but was described as an "administrative change".  There was no public input.  Only a few tax accountants in Canada were informed.

"Citizens to Restore Tax Credits for People with Disabilities" is an advocacy movement that is asking you to write the Minister of Finance, Hon. Jim Flaherty and ask to "restore our unclaimed pre-1996 Disability Tax Credits for families of people with disabilities now"!

For more information, you can contact "Citizens to restore Tax Credits for People with Disabilities", 505-341 Bloor W., Toronto, ON, N5S 1W8 or phone 1 -877-382 -1986
