During the fall two students with CHARGE syndrome participated in a 4 1/2 day "CHARGE week" - Teacher / Teacher Assistant short-term placement at the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority (APSEA) Center. The purpose of the placement was to provide classroom suggestions and activities that would be enjoyable and meaningful to each student, and take into account any visual or hearing considerations. The placement also provided an opportunity for student's school staff (from their home community) to observe APSEA staff working with the students, and ask questions about programming.
Highlights of the week included: going to the grocery store to purcahse items to make popcorn; making and packaging a variety of flavioured popcorn and holding a popcorn sale. Students also went on an outing to the "Discovery Center".
The students had the opportunity to create two experience books on "Popcorn making" and "Going to the discovery Center".
