Canadians are invited to provide views on policies and programs for persons with disabilities, reports Ken Dryden, the Minister of Social Development. It is hoped that through the use of online consultations, policy development can be directed and program work may evolve.

It is hoped that those in Canada will have a chance to share their stories and provide feedback into Social Development Canada's effort to advance the well-being and participation of those persons who may have a disability.  While hearing from Canadians across the country, the government will add dialogues with stakeholders and those who are interested in the issues of those with disabilities.

A government report states that Canada recognizes that Canadians with disabilities continue to face barriers and experience exclusion in learning, work and community life.  The Canadian government reports they are interested in stregthening the country's social foundations and hope to ensure inclusion of all Canadians.  There are reported to be at least 3.6 million Canadians with disabilities.

The questions reported now on the site include "family and unpaid caregiving".  Other topics soon hope to include the social well-being of seniors, children, families and communities.  The online consultation is available at http://www.sdc.gc.ca
