CHARGE Syndrome Canada President Forms Networks
Cydne Park, President of CHARGE Syndrome Canada, attended a "Special Meeting of Members" with the Canadian Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD) Edmonton in April. Here Cydne is meeting new-born screening advocate John Adams, who is also a member of the Board of Directors for CORD. As a result of this networking, CHARGE Syndrome Canada posters were taken to the International BIOTEC conference in Chicago in order to further the mission of awareness and recognition of CHARGE.

CHARGE Syndrome Canada have been contacted by a group in Edmonton that are promoting "Whole Schooling". This is an international movement that was started by families of children with disabilities and is spreading from country to country. We are very fortunate that this group is in Edmonton. I attended the first meeting and am on the mailing list for the group.
There are 4 seminars that will be spaced throughout the year aimed at
educators. They are going to arrange the first seminar and then at the conclusion
of that ask the people who attended to give direction as to topics
and possible speakers for the next three. The topic for
the first seminar is planned to include the theme of "Why diversity?" . It would be an introduction
to 'why' we need specific learning for all types of diversity - whether it be because of indiviudal differences such as racial, disability, giftedness,
gender, cultural, and so on.
