"Martial Arts Parents" to compete in International Competition

Angie and Joel Fice Karate parents in gear going to competition

My name is Angie Fice and I have been married to my wonderful husband Joel for 14 years this fall.  We are parents of four wonderful children, Alex 13, Rachel 12, Ryan 9, and Nicholas 8.  Nicholas was born with CHARGE syndrome.

We have never put any limitations on Nicholas, nor his siblings or ourselves.  In January of 2005, I fulfilled a life long dream and opened my own karate school in a small town.  I have been training in martial arts for 23 years.  It has been an outlet for me during my life.  It has become a way of life.  Through hard work and discipline, I have overcome obstacles and accomplished much.  I owe this to my martial arts training.

We now have the opportunity to represent Canada in the world championships this January in Florida.  We will be part of the "Canadian National Martial Arts Team" for the "World Fraternity of Marital Arts".  I will be competing in the Black Belt division for women and my husband will be competing in the Intermediate Men's Division.  This is quite an honour and opportunity for us.  We have to arrange for our family's needs while we are away, as well ensure the operation of our club while we are away.   As Joel and myself are busy trying to raise funds, our goal of $3000 each seems out of reach.  Postive thinking has always guided me, and we have never been afraid to reach out for support to realize our dreams.
