MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL

for those who have not yet placed their 2007 membership!

President's Message:

CHARGE Syndrome Canada can celebrate the success of the 2nd National workshop on CHARGE syndrome which took place on October 21, 2006 in Toronto.  We had the pleasure of hosting Conny VanRavenswaaij, from Radboud University, Nijegen Netherlands, who was with the team that found the gene for CHARGE syndrome. Conny has an updated article in the journal of medical genetics for 2006.  Dr. KD Blake, Associate Dean of undergraduate Medical Education, Dalhousie University and Dr. C Prasad, genetic doctor from London Health Science Center, were also our special guests. Click here for Dr. Blake and Dr. Prasad's 2006 article .There is also an Orpha Net data base summary from this research.

For program information and related articles for populations who are deaf or hearing impaired, we have been given a new link, although mostly US based information.  This is a site which has quite extensive resources.

Finally  I would like to suggest you visit an article in the winter edition of Deafblind Perspectives for those who had questions about cochlear implants.

Please remember to renew your memberships and/or donate to CHARGE Syndrome Canada to keep our information coming in this new year!

Ann Gloyn, Education Specialist

President, CHARGE Syndrome Canada
