DEVELOPING AN AUDITORY TRAINING PROGRAM (cont...)

         STAGES OF AUDITORY PROGRESSION

 

Here is an example of sequential goals in learing in the area of perceptual development (this child would have some residual vision)

Student will: 

  • alert to a sound source presented in clsoe proximity during structured play
  • turn head consistently to sound source during structured play
  • be able to indicate when a source of sound has stopped, and then started again
  • turn to a sound source when it is in the distance
  • indicate that a sound was heard when background noise is also present
  • identify the presence of some sounds in the natural environment
  • search for the source of sound
  • point to the correct sound source when given a choice of three pictures during structred play
  • match a variety of instruments to their sound by placing them on a picture of the "same"
  • name an environmental sound after it is presented
  • discriminate between a loud and a soft sound
  • count the number of sounds presented in structured auditory play
